Christopher “Daze” Dasen a.k.a. Plastique De Rêve is a Swiss deejay, producer and sound designer currently living in Berlin, who’s had a string of successful releases on top electro labels such as Gigolo, Turbo or DFA over the last 15 years.“Ange Du Bizarre” is both an alter ego to reflect Plastique’s darker, more spiritual and mystical side, and a 2 hours+ compilation of 16 dark ambient / experimental / electronica / film music tracks and oddities produced over the last 20 years, in solo or in collaboration with other artists and projects.The album is a hypnotizing journey through a dreamy world of electronic oddities, an invocation of mysterious and magical creative spirits.The selection of tracks draws from Plastique’s live experiments as part of the Swiss performance collective MXP and his live sets on Swiss radio Couleur 3 in the 90s, his numerous analog synthesizer experiments, the weird mixes and sound collages produced for his own radio shows, or the even weirder Bali Bioskop project – a “live electronic music soundtrack for the Balinese Wayan Kulit shadow puppet play” created and performed in 2000 together with Balinese artists and musicians.“Ange Du Bizarre” means “Angel of the Odd” in French. It’s the translated title of a satirical short story written by Edgar Allan Poe in 1844 and an expression used to describe the apparition of the fantastic in art and life.Bio:Daze started learning music at an early age and has been dabbling into electronic music since 1984, studying electro-acoustics, synthesizers and computer music in several music and sound engineering schools in Switzerland, but also flute, piano, drums and percussions. Grown under the influence of his parents Kraftwerk records and electronic disco in the 70s, then new wave, techno-pop and EBM in the 80s, Daze formed an EBM/industrial band in the late 80s, then the live experimental music collective “MXP” which staged early acid raves, live occupations of buildings and other activist events in the early 90s and also opened for The Prodigy in 1995.After producing art installations and performances as “2X2L” in the late 90s, he later formed “Plastique De Rêve” in the early 2000s, releasing two electro bombs on German label International Deejay Gigolo at the beginning of this Century and later moving on with releases on other top labels such as Turbo, Kitty Yo, DFA, Mental Groove or Space Factory. His many 12” releases and his own brand of disco and acid-tinged electro have been praised and played by top deejays across the world and led him to tour internationally across the 00s and open for many of his own idols such as Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin, The Prodigy, Front 242 and a multitude of others over the span of his multi-faceted career.Today Daze lives and works in Berlin and is half of cosmic disco duo NOO together with Sami Liuski of Bangkok Impact and Putsch 79 fame, releasing three vinyl singles and a digital compilation album on Optimo Music over the last three years. Together they also work as sound designers for sample banks as well as for movies, advertising and fashion.
