专辑《Dzukani》 简介
Fuse comprises Helen Wilson on flute and Dave Elliot on percussion. These talented young musicians studied together at Chethams School of Music in Manchester UK before going to the Royal Northern College of Music and Trinity respectively. They were both BBC Young Musician of the Year finalists in their categories and have already made an impact as soloists, orchestral players and in the world of Jazz (they are both regular members of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra in the UK).Dzukani comes from Chichewa (being the language of the Chewa Tribe in Malawi). It means"wake up" and describes the journey of our consciousness in the material world. In the first movement,"Connection", the mind gradually withdraws from the pressures and influences of daily life to achieve a peaceful state with occasional interruptions as the memory deals with thoughts of the past day and anxieties of the future. There are glimpses of a transcendental state that become more and more prolonged as connection with the divine or the true self is achieved. In the second movement,"Presence", the mind manages to go about life in a blissful state, dealing with life's adventure without being a victim of it. There are periods of calm mixed with periods of activity which is harmonious and efficient. In the third movement,"Action", there is lots going on, reminiscent of our busy world. Sometimes there is harmony and sometimes discord. In the fourth and final movement, the mind withdraws from busyness to reflect on the adventure, on the highs and lows of the experience. There is learning and growth in preparation for the cycle to begin again in connection.
